WebQuest

This particular class was using the internet to learn about the solar system. The students were gathering facts and sharing them with their peers. WebQuest had roles breaking down for people that study the universe. The students watched a laser-disk to gather more information. I liked how the teacher had the students share of what they researched. I am a fan of peer teaching.

Compare Contrast

The first video was of a college class and the students were holding up signs saying what they do. Such as, how many hours spent sleeping, studying, working, eating, watching TV, internet use, etc. The students totaled 26.5 hours per day. Now anyone can see that is not possible. The video seemed to show that technology in class is a distraction. The students abuse technology, and would rather use their laptops for facebook instead of school work. It makes a lot of sense. I see people on facebook all the time during class. It is not just facebook either, i see emails, and instant messaging. I notice that some people fail test, and i still see them monkeying around on their computer during class.
The second video started out similar to the first video. The only difference was that the students were not in college. The students messages were saying out they use technology everyday, but their teachers are not skilled in technology. The were saying it is a waste. The message was that teachers need to get with the program and engaged students for learning. This makes me feel good about being a teacher in the 21st century. I have always picked up on technology fairly well. I will just have to stay updated.
